Awards
Our story
Our three founding directors tapped into the explosion of learning technologies at the turn of the century, which brought them together to work on digital solutions for industry and academia. They formed Learning Science in 2007, to pioneer an approach to interactive online learning that has paved the way for the types of digital science education we see today. Their varied backgrounds have helped realise and explore the potential for technology to augment and transform learning experiences.
While studying for his PhD and subsequently working at University of Bristol, John began teaching and managing a teaching laboratory. There he experienced first-hand the need for better support and skills development for students and recognised how simulation and visualisation could bring ideas to life to help inspire graduates with real confidence and scientific literacy.
After studying Environmental Chemistry and Marine Science, and working as an environmental consultant, Bill reskilled and began teaching across the globe, which fostered his interest in teaching and learning practice, and his aspiration to create great teams and products.
Tony studied Audio and Video Engineering and his fascination with the creative side of technology led him to write, create and build interactive online skills training using the latest software in a commercial e-learning setting.
Our team has grown considerably since 2007, pursuing a collective mission to transform science education and empower academics to inspire the next generation of scientists. We use technology to accelerate teaching innovation, help get better graduates into industry, and widen access to science across the world.
We want to build skills, expand horizons and foster a scientifically literate world that has the capability to improve our lives and environment. We want learning technology to be available to as wide an audience as possible and to make it cost effective and accessible.
